check around first and foremost sit on them and make sure you are totally comfortable then check out the weight stand it up make sure you can handle it,as for the size you want something power wise that you can learn on and continue to ride basically a 500 should due just fine.as for what style thats basically up too what catches your eye if u have never ridden i would suggest a cheap used bike this way if you find out you don't like riding it will be easier to resell
Some asshole who deserves to eat lead snacks stole my son’s Chritsmas present from his grandmother: a $250 Mongoose BMX bike. The damn thing wasn’t even that high speed, just a cool little bike. It’s so funny, the fucking cops are up your ass if you do 10 over the speed lmit, have a loud party or just driving while black…but some asshole can walk up in my yard and steal shit. First the flat has to want to change.
A proper racing bike may not be suitable as it will not carry panniers so a hybrid may be better. Also, race bikes tend to be very solid and firm, not solid as in heavy but as in no flexibility so on long distance they will inevitably be uncomfortable especially if you are road biking. They are designed really to be doing long distances usually as quick as possible where comfort is not always the priority while still being ride-able for long periods. I know I've not really helped in the end choice but hopefully helped a little. Also, make sure you get your bike in good time so adjustments can be made as bikes can take a good month or two to settle in and for you to get all the settings right. Seat height, seat angle, handlebar height etc
