If you love the design of the Crank Brothers Egg Beater, but you'd prefer a little more pedal under your foot for stability, the Candy SL has your name all over it. Crank Brothers designed the stainless-steel Candy SL after their congregation asked for a little more beef to deal with hairy clip-in situations and long marathon rides. The Candy SL design lets you pedal briefly without engaging the cleat and provides a broader, more comfortable base underfoot, at the expense of a few grams over the Egg Beater SL. Good choice pedal for dirty, muddy riding. Gives a bigger platform for your foot to rest on. Very easy to clip into and out of. Used mainly on a Cyclocross bike
These are my first clipless pedals and I love them. Easy to lock in and even easier to disengage.
Easy to clip in and out. Smooth operation. Cleats are low profile and make less noise when walking than the Shimanos that they replaced. Don’t know about durability yet.

The next game from Criterion Games most likely won’t include the name Burnout. Instead, Electronic Arts has tasked the UK developer with aiding in the reboot of Need For Speed. Criterion Games is actively developing their take on Need For Speed and announced on Twitter today they would be showing off their hard work to a number of EA employees today.
“NFS [Need For Speed] will be shown for the first time today at internal Electronic Arts meeting!” said the company’s Twitter. “Let’s put the pedal to the metal and hit it….!”

Single function effect pedals come in many varieties and features and can be both simple and complex to use. You have to first figure out the application you will use such a pedal. Do you need more gain from your amp? Then go with either a distortion, overdrive, or fuzz pedal. Do you like modulated sounds? Then chorus, flanger, and phaser pedals will offer plenty of swirl and thickness for you. Do you need ambient or time-based sounds? Then either a reverb or delay pedal will suit you fine. There are plenty of other single-ended pedals that offer different shades of effect besides the more popular effects listed above (i.e. uni-vibe, rotary speaker, octave, ring modulation, etc.,) but these are effects that are often used in moderation and probably shouldn’t be your first purchase.
Depending on what you choose, a pedal can cost you as little as $40 to as much as $400. Generally speaking, the pecking order in price for pedals begin with the distortion/overdrive pedals being the least expensive, to the modulation effects being in the middle, and the time-based effects being the most costly.
