Help Installing New Bicycle Pedals?

I recently bought a new bicycle. I assembled it myself and everything seemed to be working fine. After riding it for a short time, though, the right pedal came off. It looks as though the threads are entirely stripped. I ordered new pedals, and am having trouble screwing them in. Does anybody know what I can do to properly install the new pedals? I don't want to end up trying to force them and stripping a perfectly good new set of pedals.

One of the perils of trying to save a few pounds by buying on-line, especially cheap bikes, you have to assemble yourself, you have no retailer back up to deal with problems, is it worth it?
Send it back, get a refund and buy from a bike shop, you may pay a few pounds more, but you will have a safe, rideable bike.
But, I can point you to sites that actually charge more on line than my local bike shop for the same bike!!!
Chances are you stripped the threads out of the crank arm. The pedal spindles are a lot stronger material then what the arms are made of. You need to grease the threads and tighten the pedals to the proper torque. You can try to thread the new pedals in the arm from the back side to clear up the threads in the arm.http://bicycletutor.com/replace-pedals/
you may have damaged the thread inside the actual crank if you have screwed the pedal in the wrong way.you may have to have the crank re-threaded,your local bike store will do that for you.pedals are threaded the opposite way so they wont loosen when the pedel is in rotation.i would take your bike and pedals to your local bike shop anyway and let them do it.it shouldn’t cost much.
Take the bike to a bike shop and have them chase the threads, any reputable bike shop will have the correct taps to do this. If the cranks arms are stripped you’ll need to get them replaced.
Did you screw them in right?
You do know that they need to go on the correct side, and that the thread of one of them is counter to the normal direction?
try screwing them in ,in opposite direction , some car wheelnuts are like this to prevent them from coming loose and falling of.
Ha!
We all did this – most of us as young kids. Pedals screw in the other way!!!!
Agree
Yeah Chico.

“The images show how the police helicopter first began taking images from afar before moving in to reveal the devastation taking place underneath.
They also reveal the horror faced by those trapped in the burning buildings and then the walls of smoke and debris that enveloped the surrounding area as the towers came crashing down.

Structural steel for the 1,776ft tower, which will be known as 1 World Trade Centre, has already reached 200ft above street level.
Workers are now installing 16 steel nodes on the 20th-floor of the tower which will serve as joints between the steel framing for the building’s podium and the steel for the rest of the tower. 1. Check to make sure that the wheels spin freely. Are the brakes rubbing against the tires? Are the brakes retracting after they are used? Are the tires properly alligned and not rubbing any shields or struts?
2. Put oil on the part of the pedal that spins. And put some oil on the chain.
3. Take it to a bike shop for a quick checkup.
I was riding my bike and all of a sudden my left pedal just broke off. I tried repairing it myself but the threads were damaged from the wear that i exerted while pedaling so now i have to take it to a bike shop to get it repaired. Should i just get a new crank or buy a new bike?
Because the static electricity will come from YOU.
that deserves a thumbs up xD
WD40 is not a lubricant.
get a teflon based lubriacnt form a real bike shop. Also avoid wax based lubricants (eg white lightining) as the dirt clings to them and means lots of cleaning is needed, very regularly
i tryed to wire up a car alternator to a bike got nothing tryed different ways to wire it up its looks so easy on youtube but gave up no electric hooked up a switch to exite it can you help me ?
Pre drill is always a good practice when nailing any finished wood product. The last thing you want to do is split the wood when nailing anything and pre-drilling always prevents that.

There comes a time in every bicyclist’s life when you come to realize “I really don’t want to pedal up that hill.” For those riding a Sanyo Eneloop, they don’t have to. The series of bikes has been getting more advanced over the years, and the new SPL models are the smartest yet. Whereas previous editions could only regeneratively charge themselves on downhills or when the brakes were applied, this new series can juice up while the rider is pedaling along on the flats. This presumably increases the rolling resistance somewhat but the new “Eco Charge Mode” is said to boost range by 53 percent. More importantly, a new chrome basket shows that this ride means business. It won’t come cheap, though, shipping to Japanese pedalers on April 21 for ¥157,290, or about $1,800. For that kind of money we’ll stick with our fleet of Huffy 10-speeds. you have to get a double headphone jack and plug the two pedal cords into it and then plug the double jack into where the one pedal would usually go
I have an idea too? anybody interested?
You didn't say what kind of gears you have. If you have a multi-speed bike with derailleurs (look for a cluster of gears on the back wheel), then your derailleurs might need adjustment. You might be experiencing Autoshifting". For more info on autoshifting, see

From the UK’s Sonodrome, the Posc handheld electronic musical instrument:
The Posc is a battery powered, pocket sized oscillator. It has two square wave oscillators, one of which is controlled by changes in the user’s skin resistance over two metal contacts. The pitch of the second square wave oscillator is controlled by manipulating the amount of light received by the light dependent resistor. The Posc can be set to work in either stereo or mono output through a standard 1/4″ audio jack, so is compatible with a wide range of audio equipment. It is ideal for use with guitar amplifiers and effects pedals, PA systems, and can even be plugged directly into your computer or Hi-Fi audio inputs….A free effects rack for the Posc is also available from our software page.
